General Information
Legal DNA Paternity Diagnostics are DNA tests that will be presented as evidence in an evidenciary court proceeding. Legal DNA Paternity Diagnostic testing may not be court ordered but is generally requested by attorneys for the parties involved. Such DNA diagnostic tests are admissible in court and are based on a strict chain of custody and sample collection protocol from accredited hospitals and clinical agencies.

Legal DNA Paternity Diagnostics require AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) adherence and accreditations. All Legal DNA Paternity Diagnostic procedures maintain strict identification requirements including a chain of custody and a fingerprint/photograph at the time of collection. Health care professionals are trained and accredited in obtaining samples for diagnostic analysis. Samples are run with strict adherence to the requirements set forth by the AABB and the International Standards Organization.

Attorneys for clients may submit their requests directly to our laboratory. Our laboratory will handle scheduling of parties for collection at appropriate times, and ensuring that all parties are informed of the procedure and its identification requirements. Samples are collected at one of affiliated collection centers and are sent via courier to our main laboratory. Information regarding the testing procedure is available online through the VERI Network at all times.

Upon completion of the diagnostic procedure. the results are made available online through the VERI Network; Genetest mails an official copy to the specified counsel at the time of request.
Legal DNA Paternity Diagnostic testing will determine the genetic relationship between the child and alleged father. In these types of DNA tests samples are obtained from the mother, child and putative father. However, it it is not necessary for the mother to submit her samples, and there are no additional fees for DNA testing performed without samples from the mother.

The procedure for Standard Three Person Paternity testing can be through submission of blood, buccal swabs (cotton swabs) or a DNA SampleCard. All parties being tested are required to attend a hospital or clinic for sample collection, which is arranged by our laboratory.

These DNA tests are highly accurate and provide complete information at the genomic level as to the identity of the child.
